Headcorn Outdoor Bowls Club is situated on Maidstone Road (A 274) about
thee quarters of a mile to the North (towards Maidstone) of Headcorn Village.
It is a vibrant club with an excellent green, probably one of the best in the
South East. There is a varied and full program of matches at all levels,
league, friendly and internal club games, the latter being particularly suited
to newer players. The season, in common with other clubs, runs from mid April
till mid September. Beginners are very welcome and free coaching is available,
as indeed it is to members wishing to improve their game. The club has an
active social side, with a diverse mix of functions throughout the year plus a
regular newsletter. It is a very friendly club with much emphasis on it being
a 'members club' with no stuffy hierarchy.
For those considering taking up the game, it is an absorbing game of skill,
a very social game, and one which is easy to learn the basics, and of course
provides healthy but gentle outdoor exercise. Importantly
it is a reasonably inexpensive sport. Help and guidance is available at
all stages. In 2009 there is to be an
Open Evening in the pavilion 7.30pm till 9.00pm on Tuesday 14th
April (please phone to book)
Open Day on the green 10.30am till 3.00pm on Sunday 17th
May (please phone to book)
Others times can be arranged as mutually convenient. (please
telephone)
