History Society

                          

Headcorn Local History Society has been in existence since 1959. It has a membership of around 80. It meets on the last Wednesday of each month from September to June, excepting December at 8:00pm in the Methodists School Room. The winter meetings have a mixture of visiting speakers, members own talks and other entertainment's. In the summer months historical visits are organised in the local area.

Leslie Daniels, our secretary since 1962 sadly passed away on 24th August. He will be sadly missed by our society and the people of Headcorn.

25th November 2009 - "The Craft of the Clockmaker", an illustrated talk by Mr Mike Bundock, MBA, FCCA, GRAD, BHI

27th January 2010 - 51st Annual Meeting, with Members' Evening, buffet and raffle  followed by "Sister Janet" talk by Katie Stossel.

24th February 2010 - "Ironbridge: The Story of the Iron Bridge in Shropshire, including Aspects of the Kentish Iron Industry", an illustrated talk by Mrs Denise Baldwin and Mrs Katherine Harding

24th March 2010- "Richard III A Man of Controversy", a talk by Toni Mount

28th April 2010 - "Hever Castle", an illustrated talk by Mr D H Williams. There will be a raffle

26th May 2010 - "Elizabeth I Queen or Goddess?", a talk by Mrs Pat Mortlock

30th June 2010 - "A Childs Life in the Middle Ages", a talk by Imogen Corrigen
